Koto Ryu Kyusho
Kyusho
Kyusho are the various pain points. Though the kysho here are arranged according to area of the body and alphabetically, bolded words represent pain points (Kyusho) belonging to the Principles of Strikes and Cut Paper (Daken Kirigami Daiji).
The Head (Atama)
Gankotsu (Bone Under the Mouth) - the center of the chin.
Hadome (End of the Teeth) - a spot on the top of the upper teeth directly under the peak of the cheekbone.
Hachi Yo (Eight Ways) - the ears.
Happa (Eight Leaves) - Clapping the ears.
Hiryuan (Confusing Flying Dragon) - the eyeball.
Jinchu (Center Of The Human) - base of the nose and the spot above the upper lip. This is also simply called Jin (Human).
Kasumi (Mist) - the temple. This is also called Rangiku (Disordered Chrysanthemums)
Men (Face) - the face in general, but more specifically the center of the forehead and the bridge of the nose. This is also referred to as Menbu.
Sain (Left Shadow) - the area immediately below the left eye.
Sakin (Left Restriction) - the area immediately above the left eye.
Tenmon (Heavens Gate) - the ridge of the eye sockets.
Tentou (Top Of The Head) - the top of the head at the soft spot.
Tsuyugasumi (Drop of Mist) - directly under the ear on the jaw.
Uin (Right Shadow) - the area immediately below the right eye.
Ukin (Right Restriction) - the area immediately above the right eye.
The Neck (Kubi)
Amado (Door Of Rain) - the area where the lymph glands are, which is about two inches below the ear on the side of the neck.
Asagasumi (Morning Mist) - the part of the neck directly under the chin. This is also known as Asagiri.
Atari (Hit) - the base of the skull on either side of the spine (left and right of the Dokko pain point).
Chidame (Blood Break) - points about half an inch to an inch below the base of the skull on the spine (below the Dokko pain point and in the center of the Chidome points on the back of the neck).
Chidome (End of the Blood) - points about half an inch to an inch below the base of the skull on either side of the spine (Below the Atari pain points).
Dokko (Self-Reliance) - the notch at the base of the skull and the top of the spine.
Ichiji (One Hour) - top ridge of the collar bone about an inch to the left of the sternum (left of the Ji pain point).
Ji (Hour) - the top of the sternum in front of the tracheal notch.
Kasumi Gaeshi (Returning Mist) - the side of the neck one inch above the lymph glands (The amado pain point) and one inch below the ear.
Kirigasumi (Spray of Mist) - the soft dimple area behind the jaw and under the ear.
Matsukaze (Pine Tree Wind) - a spot behind the collar bone on the left and right of the throat about two inches from the tracheal notch.
Murasame (Village Rain) - the tracheal notch which is the notch immediately below the Adam's Apple in between the clavicles; also, the point on the windpipe just above the Adam's apple.
Ryu Fu (Willow Wind) - The throat - the windpipe.
Ryuon (Dragon Gate) - a point on both the right and left located under the collar bone near the shoulder (about an inch from the Matsukaze pain point).
Sakin (Left Restriction) - two points on the left side of the windpipe; one is about two inches above the collarbone and one is in the gap slightly above and behind the collar bone to the left of the tracheal notch (the Murasame pain point).
Santou (Three Hits) - top ridge of the collar bone about an inch to the right of the top of the sternum (the Ji pain point).
Shokukotsu (Independent Bone) - the Adam's Apple in the center of the throat. This is also called Yanagi Kaze.
Toki no Atari (Toki Hit) - the spot on the neck directly beneath the Adam's Apple.
Uko - the sides of the neck and more specifically the jugular area.
Ukin (Right Restriction) - two points on the right side of the windpipe; one is about two inches above the collarbone and one is in the gap slightly above and behind the collar bone to the right of the tracheal notch (the Murasame pain point).
Yuasumi (Evening Mist) - behind the ear about halfway up from the bottom of the lobe to the top of the ear.
The Body (Karada)
Butsumetsu (The Day Buddha Died) - the bottom-most ribs under the chest muscle. The name suggests the opponent will have trouble standing for seven days.
Daimon (Big Gate) - the middle of the shoulder joint.
Gorin (Five Rings) - These are five points around the bellybutton.
- Gorin Tsukikage (Five Rings of Moonlight) - the right side of the area around and to the side of the navel.
- Gorin Inazuma (Five Rings of Lightning)- the left side of the area around and to the side of the navel.
Hoshi Shita (Lower Stars) - the armpit. This is also called Sei (Star).
In (Yin) - the fourth rib up from the bottom on the right side about two-inches away from the sternum adjacent to the heart.
Jyujiro (Intersection) - the front part of the shoulder.
Kage (Shadow) - the very bottom triangular tip of the sternum.
Kimon (Demon Gate) - five points above the nipple and sometimes used to refer to the chest in general.
Kinketsu (Money Loss) - the sternum.
Omote Kimon (Outer Demon Gate) - the gap between the 4th and 5th ribs directly under the left pectoral.
Ryuumon (Dragon Gate) - the ridge of the shoulder blade.
Shinchu (Center Of The Heart) - the middle of the chest near the heart.
Suigetsu (Water Moon) - the solar plexus and more specifically the spot in the center of the upper abs below the diaphragm. This also called Shishiran (Confusing Tiger).
Unmon (Rain Gate) - the chest bone. This is also called Unka (Falling Rain).
Ura Kimon (Inner Demon Gate) - the gap between the 4th and 5th ribs directly under the right pectoral.
Wakitsubo (Side Of The Body) - the side of the ribs under the armpit. This is also called Wakidai.
The Arm (Ude)
Hoshi (Stars) - the elbow joint and the crook of the elbow. This is also called Hoshi-zawa (Cliff Of Stars).
Jyakkin (Weak Muscle) - the top of the bicep near the crook of the elbow.
Jyakkotsu (Weak Bone) - the bone between the bicep and tricep on the inside of the arm.
Kasei (Lower Star) - the bony part on the inner side of the elbow.
Kenkotsu (Strong Bone) - the bony part on the outer side of the elbow.
Kin (Muscle) - the web of the thumb.
Nagare (Stream) - the forearm.
Omote Gyaku (Outer Reversal) - the back of the fist and the outer edge of the hand.
Seitaku (Star Swamp) - the bicep.
Shakotsu (The Ulna) - the outer bone of the forearm.
Ura Gyaku (Inner Reversal) - the inner bone of the wrist below the base of the thumb.
Yubi (Finger) - any of the five fingers.
Yubitsubo (Finger Pot) - base of the thumb.
The Legs (Ashi)
Kaku (Breaking) - the back and inner or outer side of the knee.
Koe (Voice) - the leg joint at the lymph nodes, which is the inside of the hip where the upper leg and groin connect.
Koshitsubo (Hip Pot) - the inside ridge of the hip bones.
Sai: Sasoku (Leg: Left) - the inner thigh above the knee, specifically the left inner thigh.
Sai: Usoku (Leg: Right) - the inner thigh above the knee, specifically the right inner thigh.
Suzu - the testicles; this is also known as Kosei (Tiger Power).
Toki (Japanese Crested Ibis) - the top of the foot above the toes. This is also called Kyoukei (Strong Tendons).
Yaku (Command) - the calf.
Yaku Ryuge (Lower-Dragon Command) - the inner ankle bone.
