Taijutsu is seen as the highest form of combat in Togakure Ryu. It encompasses kosshijutsu, koppojutsu, weapons, and so much more.
Kihon
Kyusho: There are three main vital points (kyusho) taught in Togakure Ryu. These are the eyes, ears, and groin. Knowing the names of the vital points of Koto Ryu and Gyokko Ryu will be essential for learning the combat techniques of Togakure Ryu. Forms
There are four known sets of combat forms:
The combat forms in Togakure Ryu were taught to shinobi. Their main role was infiltration, espionage, and scouting. Therefore, the overall goal of these combat forms was for shinobi to escape from a pursuer or opponent who was trying to capture them and for the shinobi to return from the mission safely.
Taijutsu Ukemi Gata
The first set of forms in Togakure Ryu place an emphasis on receiving with the body
Shinobi Gaeshi Gata
The second set of forms focus on countering with hidden movements
Hiden Gata
The third set of forms are more advanced, secret, or desperate methods of countering an opponent
Santo Tonko no Gata
The final set of forms focus on escaping from an opponent and using tonkyojutsu
